Folk of the Puppetree

The Folk of the Puppetree

For many years I ran my small business The Folk of The Puppetree, building my countless faery and pixie inspired marionettes and touring around the South-West market circuit.  During this time I wrote and produced three magical puppet shows, infusing mythological characters with environmental issues.  Together with original music by Saul Cresswell and puppetry by Kerrie Yabsley, we toured schools as part of the South West Coast Care Tour, performed at festivals such as Fairbridge, Balingup Medieval Carnival and Lunar Circus, Denmark Arts markets, regional libraries and supported environmental conferences.

Little T’s Sea Story

Using her mermaid magic and storytelling narrative, Aloha bestows upon Dylan, the ability to breathe beneath the ocean.  Here Dylan befriends a Turtle named Little T, learns about the effects of plastic on the underwater environment and helps save the Old Turtle. When returning to his family they discuss sustainable options for reducing plastic use.

Grandfather Tree versus the Toilet paper factory

A faery named Honey, hides her wings to protect her Grandfather tree from being cut down for toilet paper.  She sells her honey through the town to business men, construction workers and a mother and children.  But does she save the tree?

River song

When Sophie, who can hear the magical River Song, is hanging out with Maz the critically endangered Hairy Marron, she is swept away by a pollution bubble.  She meets a cloud and visits other countries to meet people who hear the River Song.  This puppet show explores the water cycle and our worldwide connections.
